Wind Turbines

The use of wind turbines as a source of potential energy can be the perfect solution for specific locations but the option should be carefully considered. It is not necessarily an easy solution and many factors should be investigated before its use can be justified.

Available wind speed has a huge effect on the power output of any wind turbine and energy yield is directly coupled to wind speed. The peak output of most turbines is only available at wind speeds in excess of 40 km/h.

Other important criteria will include whether the airflow will be free of turbulence caused by nearby obstructions, the height and cost of the required tower, and possibly, aesthetic considerations. The reliable availability of the resource is of critical importance and in smaller systems, wind turbines are usually employed as a secondary source of energy.

ALLSOLAR is a proud supplier of the Kestrel range of wind turbines.
